Atlanta — Angel Reese, Dream Sweep Liberty, Reach WNBA Finals

Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese is headed to the WNBA Finals one year after telling the world, on social media, exactly where she wanted to be. Her team clinched the trip by sweeping the New York Liberty, according to OutKick.

What did Angel Reese say a year ago?

On Oct. 10, 2025, Reese posted "Manifesting the finals>>>" on social media, per OutKick's report. One year later to the day, that goal became reality when Atlanta finished off its series win over New York.

How did the Dream clinch the series?

Atlanta swept the Liberty to reach the WNBA Finals for the first time since 2013, OutKick reported. Reese scored 22 points in the clinching game, helping close out the series.

What does this mean for fans in Atlanta?

For Dream fans, Monday morning brings a simple fact: the franchise is back in a championship series for the first time in more than a decade. The team's last Finals appearance, in 2013, predates most of its current roster. Ticket and schedule details for the WNBA Finals were not included in the available reporting, so fans should check official WNBA and Dream team channels for game times and locations as the league finalizes the matchup.

Why is the one-year-old tweet getting attention now?

The timing is the hook. Reese's post landed exactly a year before Atlanta's clinching win, which is why it resurfaced as the Dream advanced. OutKick's report frames it as a case of a stated goal lining up, to the day, with the outcome on the court. The outlet did not report whether Reese commented further on the timing beyond her original post.

What's next for Reese and the Dream?

Reese has also talked about her path to this point. According to the same OutKick report, she described an "embarrassing" training camp story after reaching the Finals, though specifics of that story were not detailed in the available material. The Dream now turn to preparing for the championship series itself, with the opponent and schedule to be set by the WNBA following the conclusion of the other conference's Finals.
